Pakistani singer/actress Reshma shot dead

Pakistani singer and actress Reshma has been shot dead, allegedly by her husband, following a domestic dispute.

According to a report by Geo TV, Reshma was living with her brother when the incident occurred. Reshma is the suspect’s fourth wife.


It is not immediately known what led to the dispute.

Reshma gained prominence for her popular Pashto songs and she has also acted in Pakistani drama Zhobal Goluna.

This is the 15th such incident against female artists in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the last two years.

In February, stage actress Sunbul was killed after she refused to accompany the accused to a private function.

According to her grandfather, three attackers entered the actress' Maltoon Town residence and shot her fatally after she refused to leave with them. The accused reportedly came from Peshawar.

In November 2016, popular actress and dancer Kismat Baig was shot dead in a similar manner in Lahore. She was reportedly shot as many as 11 times by motorcycle-borne assailants while returning from an event.

FORMER health secretary Wes Streeting said on Saturday that he would stand in any leadership contest to replace prime minister Keir Starmer, days after resigning from the government and urging Starmer to set a timetable for his departure.
