Not Eisha Singh, but new ZEE TV soap to star Kanika Maan!

There have been a lot of speculations around the forthcoming ZEE TV show, which is tentatively titled Ishq Pakeezah. Recently, there were reports that the makers had locked Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani fame actress Eisha Gupta to play the female lead in the show.

However, if latest reports are to be believed, Punjabi model Kanika Maan has been finalized as the leading lady of the soap.

The show will mark Kanika Maan’s debut in the Indian television space. Before venturing into acting, she has made a name for herself in the Punjabi music industry and is popular for her various Punjabi songs.

Talking about other cast members, talented actor Adnan Khan has been signed to play the male lead in the show, while actors like Gunn Kansara and Vinay Jain will be seen in important roles. Reports also suggest that the show has a scope for a second lead and a Chandigarh girl might bag the part.

Ishq Pakeezah is reportedly based on the concept of triple talaaq. It is being produced by Creative Eye for ZEE TV.

Other cast and crew details will be revealed soon.

  • Film sets Shakespeare inside a wealthy British South Asian family
  • Directed by Aneil Karia and in cinemas 6 February 2025
  • Cast includes Morfydd Clark, Joe Alwyn, Sheeba Chadha and Art Malik

Riz Ahmed has entered Hamlet in a way British cinema has not quite seen. The new Hamlet trailer has been released by Universal, giving the first proper look at Aneil Karia’s modern take on Shakespeare and placing the story inside a British South Asian business empire. It is due in cinemas on 6 February, and the footage shows a tense, controlled Ahmed moving through grief, suspicion and family power.

The film teams Ahmed and Karia again after The Long Goodbye, which won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short. That success informs this production. This is the first time a major UK studio release has grounded Hamlet within a South Asian household for a wide audience.
