Kriti Sanon to romance Salman Khan in Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali?

2019 turned out to be a good year for actress Kriti Sanon. On one hand, her comic-caper Housefull 4 inflamed the box-office and went on to emerge as one of the most commercially successful movies of the year. On the other hand, she received unanimous praises for the subtle portrayal of Parvati Bai in filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker’s ambitious historical drama Panipat.

2020 is going to be an even bigger year for Kriti Sanon as she has some interesting projects lined up for release. The latest we hear that she has added yet another high-profile movie to her repertoire. Buzz has it that Kriti has been signed on to play the female lead in Salman Khan’s Eid 2021 release Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali.

Salman Khan announced the project yesterday. To be made under the banner of producer Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali will be helmed by Farhad Samji who made his directorial debut with blockbuster Housefull 4. If rumours are true, Sanon will join Khan in the big-ticket and this will be the first time that she is seen sharing the screen with the megastar.

Meanwhile, Kriti Sanon is shooting for her forthcoming film Mimi wherein she plays the character of a surrogate mother. Directed by Laxman Utekar of Luka Chuppi (2019) fame and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Mimi is an official remake of Samroudhhi Porey's National Award-winning Marathi movie Mala Aai Vhhaychy! (2011).

Salman Khan, on the other hand, is busy finishing his next film Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai. Also starring Disha Patani, Randeep Hooda and Jackie Shroff in lead roles, the action entertainer is being helmed by Prabhudheva. It is scheduled to roll into theatres on Eid 2020.

TroyBoi returns to his Indian roots with Rootz EP using Lata Mangeshkar’s voice to redefine British diaspora music

Highlights:

  • TroyBoi’s five-track EP Rootz is a personal return to the sounds of his childhood, released via Ultra Records in September 2025.
  • The single Kabhi uses an officially cleared sample of Lata Mangeshkar’s vocal from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
  • Collaborations with Amrit Maan, Jazzy B and BombayMami plug Punjabi, Bhangra and south-Asian textures directly into modern trap and bass production.
  • This EP is part of a wider wave: British artists born into diasporas are using heritage not as garnish but as foundation.

Some albums hit you in ways you don’t see coming. Rootz is one of them. Not just another trap EP. TroyBoi, the London-born producer known for global bass and trap, has made something that’s also deeply personal. He didn’t just want to make music that bangs in clubs; instead, he wanted to reach back to the India of his childhood. And he did it with Rootz.

The track everyone’s talking about is Kabhi. Because it’s not just sampling Bollywood. Lata Mangeshkar’s voice was officially cleared for use on a non-Bollywood release, a milestone reported by multiple outlets. It’s history. It’s memory. And it’s a bridge.
