Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar Rao’s next titled Second Innings

A few weeks ago, Maddock Films had announced a film starring Kriti Sanon, Rajkummar Rao, Dimple Kapadia and Paresh Rawal. The movie will be directed by Abhishek Jain who has earlier helmed a couple of Gujarati films.

The movie is about a young couple who adopts an elder couple as parents to complete their family. Well, of course, it’s an interesting concept and now, the makers have finally decided the title of the movie. While talking to Mid-day, Jain revealed that the title of the film is Second Innings. The filmmaker said, “The title fits our story seamlessly.”

The film was supposed to start rolling in March this year, but due to coronavirus outbreak and the lockdown, the schedule has been posted. Jain said, “We were supposed to begin shooting in Delhi in March, but now everything has been pushed due to the pandemic.”

Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar Rao have earlier worked together in films like Bareilly Ki Barfi, Raabta (Rao had a cameo in it) and Stree (Kriti featured in a song in it). It will surely be interesting to see them on the big screen again.

Talking about their other films, Kriti has movies like Mimi and Bachchan Pandey in her kitty. A few days ago, there were reports that the former might get a digital release, but the makers are yet to announce it officially. Bachchan Pandey is slated to release on 22nd January 2021.

Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao will next be seen on the big screen in Chhalaang. The movie, which is directed by Hansal Mehta, is slated to release on 12th June 2020, but it looks like, the film will get postponed. He also has Badhaai Do in his kitty, a sequel to 2018 release Badhaai Ho. The actor will also be seen in Netflix’s original The White Tiger alongside Priyanka Chopra.

Falklands sovereignty row erupts days before King Charles meets Trump

Highlights

  • A Pentagon email reported by Reuters suggested the US was considering reviewing its support for UK sovereignty over the Falklands.
  • Downing Street said sovereignty "rests with the UK" and the islanders' right to self-determination is "paramount".
  • Report emerged just three days before King Charles and Queen Camilla are due to meet Trump at the White House.
A report suggesting the US may be rethinking its position on the Falkland Islands has sparked a strong response from Downing Street, coming just days before King Charles and Queen Camilla head to Washington to meet president Donald Trump.
An internal Pentagon email, reported by Reuters, suggested the US was looking at ways to put pressure on Nato allies it felt had not supported its war in Iran.
One of the options discussed was a review of American backing for British sovereignty over the Falklands.
No 10 was quick to respond, with the prime minister's spokesman saying the government "could not be clearer" on its stance.
"Sovereignty rests with the UK and the islanders' right to self-determination is paramount," he told BBC, adding that this had been "expressed clearly and consistently to successive US administrations."
He was firm that "nothing is going to change that."
The Falkland Islands government backed London's position, saying it had "complete confidence" in the UK's commitment to defending its right to self-determination.
Previous US administrations have recognised Britain's administration of the islands but have stopped short of formally backing its sovereignty claim.

Political reaction grows

The report triggered sharp reactions from across British politics. Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch called the reported US position "absolute nonsense", adding: "We need to make sure that we back the Falklands.

They are British territory." Reform UK's Nigel Farage said the matter was "utterly non-negotiable" and confirmed he would raise it with Argentina's president Javier Milei when they meet later this year.
