Jacqueline Fernandez on Kick 2 taking time in rolling

Starring Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles, Kick was one of the most successful films of the year 2014. After much speculations, filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala officially announced a sequel to the much-loved movie in 2017. Kick 2 was set to hit screens in 2019, but the year is about to end and the project has not even started rolling.

The sequel has been in the works for quite some time now. Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez have been retained to headline it. Recently, Fernandez revealed the reason behind the film taking a lot of time in mounting the shooting floor. “That is because the director really wanted it to be perfect. It is an amazing script. I am happy to be part of the sequel of a film that catapulted my career. It is good to be working again with the team,” said the actress.

Sajid Nadiadwala, who made his directorial debut with Kick, will be returning to helm the sequel. He is currently busy fine-tuning the script of the much-awaited film. If all goes well, Kick 2 will begin production in 2020.

Meanwhile, Jacqueline Fernandez is looking forward to making her digital debut with the upcoming Netflix film Mrs. Serial Killer. Shirish Kunder is helming the film, while Farah Khan is associated with it in the capacity of a producer. Besides Jacqueline, Mrs. Serial Killer also stars Manoj Bajpayee and Mohit Raina in principal roles.

Talking about her digital debut, the actress had earlier said “The digital space is very new to me. I have never ever done a film without songs. All the dance practice and choreography has been a part of every single film I have done. It has always been one of the things I have prepped up for. A film without all that is completely new territory for me.”

TroyBoi returns to his Indian roots with Rootz EP using Lata Mangeshkar’s voice to redefine British diaspora music

Highlights:

  • TroyBoi’s five-track EP Rootz is a personal return to the sounds of his childhood, released via Ultra Records in September 2025.
  • The single Kabhi uses an officially cleared sample of Lata Mangeshkar’s vocal from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
  • Collaborations with Amrit Maan, Jazzy B and BombayMami plug Punjabi, Bhangra and south-Asian textures directly into modern trap and bass production.
  • This EP is part of a wider wave: British artists born into diasporas are using heritage not as garnish but as foundation.

Some albums hit you in ways you don’t see coming. Rootz is one of them. Not just another trap EP. TroyBoi, the London-born producer known for global bass and trap, has made something that’s also deeply personal. He didn’t just want to make music that bangs in clubs; instead, he wanted to reach back to the India of his childhood. And he did it with Rootz.

The track everyone’s talking about is Kabhi. Because it’s not just sampling Bollywood. Lata Mangeshkar’s voice was officially cleared for use on a non-Bollywood release, a milestone reported by multiple outlets. It’s history. It’s memory. And it’s a bridge.
