Deepika Padukone joins protest at JNU, trolls trend #BoycottChhapaak, B-Town celebs support her

Deepika Padukone is currently busy with the promotions of her upcoming film Chhapaak. The film is slated to release on 10th January 2020, and recently when Deepika was in Delhi for the promotions, she visited JNU to join the protest against the attack at the university.

Well, Deepika’s presence at the protest didn’t go down well with a BJP leader and he tweeted that people should boycott her films. This started a trend on Twitter, #BoycottChhapaak. However, soon things changed and it started trending #IStandwithDeepika and #ISupportDeepika. A lot of Bollywood celebs took to Twitter to show their support to Deepika.


Shabana Azmi tweeted,  “@deepikapadukone When she was attacked over Padmavat very few came forward to support her. She knows what it feels to be targetted and she has shown exemplary courage by supporting the JNU students with quiet grace,More power to Deepika Padukone.

Nikkhil Advani tweeted, “As producer today @deepikapadukone would’ve been standing in the preview theatres in Mumbai waiting to hear praise being showered on her maiden production. She instead chose to stand in solidarity with #JNUstudents knowing fully well the ramifications of her actions. #RESPECT”

Kinski’s criticism leads to dramatic reversal

More than 50 years after its release, Wim Wenders has withdrawn his 1975 film Wrong Move following renewed criticism from actor Nastassja Kinski, who appeared topless in the film at the age of 13.

The German director announced that streaming services, television broadcasters and distribution partners had been instructed to stop making the film publicly accessible. The decision comes weeks after Kinski revealed she had spent 15 years unsuccessfully trying to persuade Wenders to alter the film.
