Composer Zain Khan ecstatic as his latest song Surma gets a thumbs up from audiences

Young Bollywood music composer Zain Khan, who shot to fame with the blockbuster song ‘Pallo Latke’ from Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda’s film Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana (2017), is on cloud nine as his latest song ‘Surma’ receives huge love from the audiences.

Sung by Mehek Malhotra and featuring television heartthrob Ankit Gera, the song was released on 4th May by the leading music label T-Series. It went on to garner more than 2 million digital views within hours of its release.

“I am happy that our song has been performing so well on YouTube. It has received an overwhelming response from the audience. Apart from India, people from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Mexico have been commenting on YouTube, praising the song. What else an artist wants!” says composer Zain Khan.

The composer credits the team at T-Series for the success of the song. “The team at T-Series has really done a great job. They shot the song at some breathtakingly beautiful locations in Armenia. It is a musically as well as visually pleasing song.”

Talking about how the song came into being, Khan tells Eastern Eye, “I have been mostly working with Zee Music for the past few years. But I always wanted to work with T-Series, too. So, I met the team at T-Series one day. Their brief was that they wanted a peppy Punjabi song which should be modern but tinged with desi flavour. I came up with two songs on the spot, but they wanted something different. So I went back to my studio and worked on two new songs. I first sent them ‘Surma’, which they really liked. Then I also sent them the other song which I had created. They liked that song as well. By the grace of God, both songs have been recorded, but the makers decided to release ‘Surma’ first.

When asked about his forthcoming projects, Khan excitedly mentions filmmaker Abhishek Saxena’s next directorial Saroj Ka Rishta. “The film is scheduled to release in July, so I hope the album will be out in June. Having said that, a lot depends on how the situation unfolds after the lockdown is lifted.”

The composer reveals that he has two songs in Saroj Ka Rishta. “Both songs, sung by Mika Singh, Sukriti Kakar and Neeti Mohan, have been shot beautifully. One of them is a wedding song, which has been shot with hundreds of dancers. It is going to be the USP of the album, I feel. I have seen the trailer of the movie, and it looks thoroughly entertaining. Sanah Kapur, Gaurav Panday and Randeep Rai play lead characters in the film, while talented actors Kumud Mishra and Supriya Pathak will be seen in supporting characters.”

In conclusion, Zain Khan says that he is also working on a couple of more projects, but since the makers are yet to announce them officially, he cannot talk about them at the moment. The composer has recorded three songs with Zee Music as well, which are expected to be featured in some upcoming films.

Supergirl may have introduced a fresh lead to DC's expanding universe, but early reviews suggest the latest superhero outing struggles to match its central performance.

Starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, the film follows a reluctant heroine drawn into a dangerous mission across the galaxy. While Alcock's portrayal has received positive attention, several critics have argued that the film falls short in its storytelling, action and emotional impact.
