Bhumi Pednekar’s next Son Chiriya features her in a fierce avatar!

After delivering two successful films in 2017, namely Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, actress Bhumi Pednekar will next be seen in Ronnie Screwvala’s hard-hitting dacoit film Son Chiriya. Helmed by Udta Punjab fame director Abhishek Chaubey, the film also features Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role. Today, Bhumi took to her Twitter handle and shared her first look from the film. The picture makes it more than clear that the actress plays a female dacoit in the movie.

Commenting on the shoot schedule of the film, a source close to the development said, “While the film’s team shot in Chambal for the last three months in sweltering heat – the temperatures would sometimes shoot up to over 40 degrees in the jungles – the actress prepped for her part by learning the Bundelkhandi dialect and interacting with the local women. The film wrapped up last week. Bhumi plays a young widow”.

Talking about her new on-screen avatar, Bhumi said, “Abhishek is a master at creating characters and has crafted iconic protagonists through his films (Ishqiya, Dedh Ishqiya, and Udta Punjab). My look is a stroke of genius. It was his vision that created a character who exudes vulnerability and yet is strong, gritty and bold. Working with Abhishek and Sushant has been one of my most fulfilling creative collaborations”.

In addition to Bhumi Pednekar and Sushant Singh Rajput, Son Chiriya also features Manoj Bajpayee, Ashutosh Rana and Ranvir Shorey in supporting roles.

While the shooting of the film is complete, the makers are yet to finalize a release date.
