Anil Kapoor to bulk up to play mogul emperor Shah Jahan in Takht

Evergreen Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor, who was most recently seen in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Fanne Khan (2018), has an interesting line-up of upcoming films. One of them is Dharma Productions’ period drama Takht.

The latest update is that Kapoor is about to start preparing for the multi-starrer film. The Mr. India (1987) plays the role of Mogul emperor Shah Jahan in the movie. To get into the skin of his character, he will gain a lot of weight.


“Anil will be putting on a lot of weight to look his part. He is currently extremely lean and fit, but early next year, he will be on a different diet and will gain quite a few kilos before he begins shoot for the period drama,” a source close to the development reveals.

Besides Anil Kapoor, Takht also features Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and his niece Janhvi Kapoor in principal roles. It is being touted as one of most awaited films of 2020.

The ambitious project will be directed by ace filmmaker Karan Johar from a script written by Hussain Hydari and Sumit Roy.

The film is set to enter theatres in 2020.
