The first Bollywood film to get affected by the coronavirus outbreak was Irrfan Khan starrer Angrezi Medium. The movie released on 13th March 2020 and just got a theatrical run for four to five days. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, theatres were shut and then the lockdown was announced.
The makers had stated that they would re-release the film once the theatres reopen. However, a few days ago, there were reports of the film getting a release digitally and the reports have turned out to be true.
Angrezi Medium is now streaming on Hotstar. Irrfan Khan took to Twitter to inform everyone about it. He tweeted, “Hop on to the dreamy roller-coaster ride with this father-daughter duo as we bring to you the World Digital Premiere of #AngreziMedium only on @DisneyplusHSVIP ! Angrezi Medium received mixed reviews and in its short theatrical run, the film collected around Rs 9-10 crore. Apart from Irrfan, the film also starred Radhika Madan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepak Dobriyal, and Dimple Kapadia.
Directed by Homi Adajania, the film was a sequel to 2017 release Hindi Medium which was a super hit at the box office. Unfortunately, Angrezi Medium failed to make a mark at the box office. But let’s hope that it gets a good response digitally.
The film marked Irrfan’s comeback on the big screen after nearly two years. The actor, due to his health, couldn’t promote the film.
