In 2017, Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar starred in a film titled Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. The film spoke about erectile dysfunction and was a hit at the box office. The makers decided to make a sequel to the film titled Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan which spoke about homosexuality.
Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar did a decent business at the box office but got a mixed response from the critics. However, now the makers are determined to make the third instalment of the franchise.
Director Hitesh Kewalya, who had directed Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, told an entertainment portal, “Shubh Mangal Saavdhan part 3 will surely come. But it will take time. We should have a topic to talk about. It should be pertinent. It should be done responsibly. It will be a bigger challenge than part 2. But we will certainly do it.”
Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan had a couple of kissing scenes between Ayushmann and Jitendra. While talking about getting the kissing scenes, Hitesh said, “They (Ayushmann & Jitendra) trusted me. There were eight to nine retakes in the kissing scene. The two-three takes in beginning were only to make them comfortable. I’d never ever thought that I’d be directing two men to kiss each other. I didn’t want to over sexualise it, yet handle it sensitively. I wanted vulnerability in the kiss, which a gay person goes through.”
