Zeenat Aman’s son Zahaan Khan begins his musical journey

While many star-kids choose to take their star parents’ legacy forward by appearing in front of the camera, evergreen actress Zeenat Aman’s son Zahaan Khan has decided to stay behind the camera. Choosing a different path for himself, Zahaan is set to make his debut in the industry as a music composer.

Actor-filmmaker Kapil Kaustubh Sharma launches Zahaan Khan in his upcoming film Dunno Y: Love Is Love. Interestingly, the previous two instalments of the film had Zeenat Aman playing important roles. Carrying on the long-term working association with the Sharma family, the diva returns to essay yet another strong character in Dunno Y: Love Is Love. For the unversed, Zeenat has worked with Kapil's father K.C. Sharma in the 90s.

Besides Zeenat Aman, Dunno Y: Love Is Love features several well-known actors on its ensemble cast including Kitu Gidwani, Mona Ambegaonkar, Zareena Wahab, Yuvraaj Parashar and Sahajahan. A small glimpse of this film was recently screened at Kashish Film Festival.

When asked about working with newcomer Zahaan, Kapil Kaustubh Sharma said, “Zahaan is a great composer and has a bright future in Bollywood. It was a good experience working with him and I wish him all the very best for all his future projects.”

Talking about his compositions in the film, Zahaan said, "For this project, I have created a few professional and personal compositions. My main inspiration behind these creations is music that I explore from across the world...I hope that the audience can connect with these songs”.

TroyBoi returns to his Indian roots with Rootz EP using Lata Mangeshkar’s voice to redefine British diaspora music

Highlights:

  • TroyBoi’s five-track EP Rootz is a personal return to the sounds of his childhood, released via Ultra Records in September 2025.
  • The single Kabhi uses an officially cleared sample of Lata Mangeshkar’s vocal from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
  • Collaborations with Amrit Maan, Jazzy B and BombayMami plug Punjabi, Bhangra and south-Asian textures directly into modern trap and bass production.
  • This EP is part of a wider wave: British artists born into diasporas are using heritage not as garnish but as foundation.

Some albums hit you in ways you don’t see coming. Rootz is one of them. Not just another trap EP. TroyBoi, the London-born producer known for global bass and trap, has made something that’s also deeply personal. He didn’t just want to make music that bangs in clubs; instead, he wanted to reach back to the India of his childhood. And he did it with Rootz.

The track everyone’s talking about is Kabhi. Because it’s not just sampling Bollywood. Lata Mangeshkar’s voice was officially cleared for use on a non-Bollywood release, a milestone reported by multiple outlets. It’s history. It’s memory. And it’s a bridge.
