Will Priyanka Chopra play Pakistani-Muslim superhero Ms Marvel?

Pakistani Muslim superhero Ms Marvel, also known as Kamala Khan, will soon be introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and fans wants Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra to essay the role.

Recently Marvel boss Kevin Feige told BBC that there were plans to introduce Ms Marvel.

“We are doing Captain Marvel right now. Captain Marvel is shooting right now with Brie Larson. Ms Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel is definitely in the works. We have plans for that once we have introduced Captain Marvel to the world,” Feige said.

Fans want Chopra to essay the role, and it helps that the Quantico actress had lent her voice for Ms Marvel in a mobile video game not long back.

One fan tweeted: “We are here for Priyanka Chopra playing the role. You can take all of my money." Another said: “They better cast Priyanka Chopra. W’re dying to see her in a Marvel movie. Cast her sisters.”

However, not everyone is impressed with the idea.

Ms Marvel is set to appear in the 2018 animated film, Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors, voiced by Kathreen Khavari.

In recent years, Marvel has made an attempt to introduce more diverse characters, but the comic book company's president of sales David Gabriel feels diversity was to blame for a decline in Marvel comics.

In an interview with ICV2, he said: “What we heard was that people didn’t want any more diversity.”

“They didn’t want female characters out there. That’s what we heard, whether we believe that or not.

“I don’t know that that’s really true, but that’s what we saw in sales,” he said.
