Vidya Balan starrer Shakuntala Devi to get a digital release

Yesterday, it was announced that Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Gulabo Sitabo will get a digital release. It will premiere on Amazon Prime on 12th June 2020. And today, it has been announced that Vidya Balan starrer Shakuntala Devi will also be premiered on Amazon Prime.

Vidya took to Instagram to inform everyone about it. She posted, “Delighted to announce that you will get to see #ShakuntalaDevi very soon on @primevideoin with all your loved ones ?. Thrilled that we will be able to entertain you in these unprecedented times . #WorldPremiereOnPrime #ShakuntalaDeviOnPrime @sanyamalhotra_ @senguptajisshu @theamitsadh @sonypicsprodns @abundantiaent @directormenon @ivikramix @shikhaarif.sharma.”


Well, the makers are yet to announce the premiere date of the movie.

Directed by Anu Menon, Shakuntala Devi also stars Sanya Malhotra, Amit Sadh, and Jisshu Sengupta. Talking about the film being released on an OTT Platform, Menon stated, “Shakuntala Devi’s passion for maths and her determination to spread its joy to the world was unparalleled. She lived ahead of her times and on her own terms - and as we all strive to change the narrative of the female protagonist on-screen, her story is one that calls out to be told! And there’s no one better than Vidya Balan to capture Shakuntala’s wit and wisdom! I’m so excited that the film will have its world premiere on Amazon Prime Video and everyone will get to experience Shakuntala’s incredible journey and Vidya’s magical portrayal of her soon!”

Shakuntala Devi was originally scheduled to hit the screens on 8th May 2020.

Total sales at Britain's third-largest supermarket fell 3.8 per cent to £5.1 bn in the three months ending September compared with the same period last year, reversing 0.2 per cent growth from the previous quarter. Comparable store sales dropped 2.8 per cent.

Chair Allan Leighton, who returned last year to revive the business for a second time, told the guardian that the fall in sales and market share was "totally self-inflicted." The supermarket struggled with technology issues during a lengthy effort to separate IT systems from former owner Walmart.
