Shaheer Sheikh to headline Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai spin-off

Last seen in Colors’ magnum opus Dastaan-e-Mohabbat: Salim Anarkali, popular Indian television actor Shaheer Sheikh has bagged yet another exciting project as lead.

The actor has been confirmed to play the male lead in the spin-off of Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, one of the longest-running series on Indian television.

The show is being launched to coincide with the tenth anniversary of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Rajan Shahi, the producer of the main show, has decided to wield the megaphone for this new offering.

Confirming the developments, Shahi said, “We are working on a spin-off of YRKHH, which completed 10 years recently. Shaheer has been signed on to play the male lead. He will be seen in a dynamic role, which will be different from his previous outings. I realised that some characters from the original show deserve to be explored further in the spin-off. The title of the new show is yet to be finalised.”

When Shaheer was contacted, he also confirmed the development. “Yes, I have been in talks with the production house, but I was in Jammu over the past few days. I will be returning to Mumbai today, and will take things forward,” he said.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has been one of the flagship programs on Star Plus. Over the years, it has gained cult following. With such a path-breaking show as predecessor, we hope its spin-off will also strike the right chord with the audience.

The Divine Feminine: Prashasti Singh talks power, pressure, and laughter

Highlights:

  • Prashasti’s comedy comes from real-life stories, not just punchlines.
  • The show explores modern women chasing success but still feeling unfulfilled.
  • She quit a secure corporate job and jumped into comedy.
  • Stand-up made her stop being scared of talking to people.
  • People laugh together at the same everyday problems.

Prashasti Singh started her stand-up terrified of speaking in public. “I was very conscious of my language, my pronunciation, my accent. I thought stand-up wouldn’t be my thing,” she says. But her first open mic changed that. “It felt like I was among a bunch of sisters, a bunch of friends. I just forgot all my nervousness. It came out very naturally.”
