Search on for missing Indian doctor in UK

AN INDIAN doctor has been reported missing in the North Somerset or Bristol area, police said last Friday (5).

There are fears for the safety of Uma Kulkarni, a doctor who has been missing since April 3 from her home in Herefordshire. 


The Avon and Somerset Police issued a missing person's appeal.

“Uma is a 42-year-old Asian woman, five feet tall of slim build. She has black hair and both her ears are pierced and she normally wears earrings. It is not known what Uma was wearing when she went missing,” the police said in a statement. 

She was thought to have travelled into the Avon and Somerset force area as her car- a bronze coloured Toyota Auris  was found near Severn Bridge crossing.

Kulkarni obtained her MBBS degree from Nagpur University in 1999 and registered with the General Medical Council to practice in the UK in 2015.

According to the police  her residence is in Herefordshire in the west Midlands, signalling that she may have travelled to the Bristol area. 

Officers have carried out enquiries in the area near to the Severn Bridge.

An INDIAN doctoral student from Tamil Nadu, who moved to Scotland on a student visa four years ago, has been elected to the Scottish Parliament, triggering debate around immigration, identity and political representation in the UK.

Q Manivannan, who identifies as non-binary and says they represent “diversity in power”, is among the newest members of the Scottish Parliament, also known as Holyrood.
