Salman Khan’s Race 3 struggles at the cash counter

Salman Khan’s latest offering Race 3 has failed to impress the audience. Despite recording one of the highest openings of 2018, the action entertainer could not maintain its hold over weekdays and, much to the chagrin of the stakeholders, faltered big time even before entering its second weekend. Resultantly, the Remo D’souza directorial could pull in only ₹ 153.50 crores within nine days of its theatrical bow.

This is the collection Race 3 was expected to yield within 5-6 days of its release, because that is what Salman Khan films usually do at the box-office in such span of time. However, nine days have past and the movie is still standing with such low collections. These figures are disappointing not only for the trade but also for the diehard fans of the superstar who waited for the film for so long.

Meanwhile, Race 3 has crossed the lifetime earning of Salman Khan’s Bodyguard (2011), which had drawn ₹ 149 crores before wrapping up its run. It will leave behind Khan’s another blockbuster Dabangg 2 (2012) by today. But these are not big feats for a multi-starrer like Race 3. Bodyguard and Dabangg 2 were released half a decade ago. A lot has changed over the years and today a Salman Khan film needs to mint over ₹ 300 crores to be called a successful venture. But the way Race 3 is struggling at the cash counter, it will be an achievement of sort if it could rack up something around ₹ 250 crores.

Race 3 is jointly produced by Salman Khan and Ramesh Taurani.
