Ranveer Singh may play Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw

Ranveer Singh, who is riding high on the success of his recent release Gully Boy (2019), is rumoured to be in talks with filmmaker Meghna Gulzar to headline her next directorial venture after Chhapaak.

If Singh agrees to come onboard, he will play Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in the project. The film will chronicle the journey of Sam Bahadur, Chief of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.


Meanwhile, Megha Gulzar is presently preparing for her much-awaited film Chhapaak which stars Deepika Padukone in the lead role. The film is expected to start rolling in March. The director will start working on the Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw biopic after wrapping up Chhapaak towards the end of the year.

The biopic will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala, who recently delivered an all-time blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019).

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is currently busy preparing for his next 83. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film is based on Indian cricket team’s first win in the Cricket World Cup. The actor plays legendary Kapil Dev in the flick.

He will also be seen in Karan Johar’s next directorial Takht.
