Priyanka Chopra shares an emotional note on father's birth anniversary

Those who have followed Priyanka Chopra’s journey over the years would know how close she was to her father Ashok Chopra. So much so that she has even got a tattoo 'Daddy's Lil Girl' inked on her forearm.

It was in the year 2013 that Priyanka Chopra lost her father to cancer. She has often spoken about her love for her dad ever since.

Today, she has penned a heartfelt note on her father’s birth anniversary. The 37-year-old actress took to Instagram and shared a photograph of him. The picture shows her father smiling while a song plays in the background.

She captioned the image: "Every year on this day Sid and I would look for ways to surprise you... but we never managed to do so! You always knew everything... So I hope wherever you are, you know that you are with us every day.”

She went on to add, “In everything I do, I think about your encouragement... In every choice I make, I ask for your affirmation... In everything that happens to me, I am grateful for your blessings."

Priyanka Chopra concluded: "Happy Birthday Dad. I wish you were here every day! We love you... P.S. - the background song was one of the father's favourites... One he always used to sing for mom."

On the work front, Priyanka Chopra is looking forward to the release of her next Hindi film The Sky Is Pink. Directed by Shonali Bose, the biographical movie also stars Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim in lead roles. Yash says Ravana in Ramayana must connect with Western viewers as film eyes global audience

Highlights

  • Yash says he humanised Ravana to help global audiences relate to the character.
  • Asura designs in the first glimpse drew criticism for looking too Western-inspired.
  • Producer Namit Malhotra compares the film's tone to Lord of the Rings and Gladiator.
Yash, who plays the demon king Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, says his portrayal was shaped by one clear goal: making the character relatable beyond Indian audiences.
Speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week, where the film was presented alongside major Hollywood releases, the actor said he worked to strip away the purely mythological reading of the role.

"I have tried to internalise the whole essence of Ravana and tried to make him as human as possible at times," Yash told Reuters.

"It is important for people to relate to him, and since we have global ambitions, we need to make it familiar to a Western audience as well."
