Much-delayed 2.0 to lock horns with Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30

After facing a series of delays, the much-awaited sci-fi film 2.0 has, reportedly, locked a new release date. Buzz has it that the Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth starrer mega-budgeted movie will hit screens on Indian Republic Day next January.

If the Shankar directorial arrives in cinemas on 25th January next year, it will lock horns with superstar Hrithik Roshan’s much-publicised Super 30, directed by Queen (2014) fame, Vikas Bahl. Looks like yet another box-office battle is in the offing.

2.0 is one of the biggest films to be made in India. The makers are spending like a sailor on its making. However, despite being in production for close to two years now, the movie is yet to wrap up.

“The 2.0 team had to majorly work on the VFX because they weren’t entirely happy with the first copy. That’s also the reason they haven’t released any promo officially. But they are eyeing the Republic Day weekend next year,” reveals a source.

2.0 was initially scheduled to enter theatres on Diwali 2017. It was pitted against Rohit Shetty’s comic-caper Golmaal Again (2017). However, due to a delay in production, the film was shifted to January 2018. It was postponed again to 14th April and 27th April 2018.
