Manish Malhotra to foray into film production

Manish Malhotra is one of the most sought-after fashion designers in the Hindi film industry, who has been adding loads of oomph to Bollywood celebrities for several years now.

After working in the film industry for more than two decades now, Malhotra is keen to explore it further and turn a producer. Yes, you heard that right! The ace fashion designer is set to add a new feather to his cap by bankrolling a regional film.


Titled The Backstage, the film will be made in several popular regional languages spoken across the country. However, it is yet not clear whether Manish Malhotra wants to make it in Hindi as well or not.

The Backstage will be made in several regional languages. We are not sure whether he wants to make it in Hindi as well, though the team working with him is keen to get the project rolling in Hindi as well,” a well-placed source reveals to an Indian daily.

The source goes on to add, “The film is about what goes on backstage during the fashion shows and will depict the making of such shows."

An official announcement is awaited.

Madhuri Dixit’s recent Toronto show has not gone down well. People who turned up say they spent about £160 (₹16,800 approx) thinking they would see a full concert. What they got instead was mostly talk and a few short dance bits. Many walked out, calling it a mess, with a late start, poor planning, and nothing like what was advertised.

The Dil Se… Madhuri show took place on November 2 at Toronto’s Great Canadian Casino Resort. Posters promised an evening of “magic, moves & unforgettable charm,” with the tagline “Toronto turns Dhak Dhak.” But attendees say the reality did not match the hype.
