Kajol to star in Ajay Devgn’s Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior as his wife

One of the most loved Bollywood couples Ajay Devgn and Kajol, who were last seen in U Me Aur Hum (2008), may reunite on celluloid after a huge gap of 10 years. According to reports, Kajol is likely to play the real-life husband’s reel life wife in the forthcoming war drama movie, Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior.

The historical movie is based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, general to the Maratha army, who fought alongside Maratha leader Shivaji in a blizzard of battles throughout his life. Ajay plays the title role in the movie and Kajol, if comes onboard, will play his wife.

"It’s likely that Kajol will play the female lead opposite Ajay in the movie. If she gives her nod, she will essay the role of Taanaji’s wife. Although essentially, it’s a war film, it also focuses on the relationship between the Maratha warrior and his wife,” a source divulged.

The source goes on to add that when the part was narrated to Kajol, she was excited. "Kajol’s Marathi dialect is perfect and the role suits her. When she heard the part, she was excited about it.”

The source also added that the pre-production work on the project has already begun. “The mapping, layout, paperwork, designing and planning are happening right now. The makers have locked some locations outside Mumbai and have even started building the sets.”

To be directed by Om Raut, Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior is being produced by Ajay Devgn.
