Imtiaz Ali breaks silence over unannounced film with Shahid Kapoor

A few months ago, reports were doing the rounds that Imtiaz Ali and Shahid Kapoor, who first teamed up for the super-hit film Jab We Met in 2007, would reteam again for an experimental movie. But before cinephiles could know more about the untitled project, it came to light that it’s been shelved forever.

However, if Imtiaz Ali is to be believed, he never planned such film with Shahid. The director says when people ask him about the film with the actor, he advises them to go to ask the person who spoke about it.

"I never announced a film. I never said I am making a film. I never said I am working with Shahid Kapoor. So now when people ask me that the film is not happening, I reply, ‘Which film?’ I never said it. Go talk to the person who spoke about it. There’s no truth to it,” says the director.

The director adds, "There will be more news like this because the fact is, I keep meeting actors because some of them I have worked with and there are going to be friendships, we meet, there is always going to be some speculation."

After the dismal performance of his last film Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017) with Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, Ali’s fans have been waiting for his new project. But looks like the director is yet to finalize his next directorial venture.

Paramount's £82.8bn Warner Bros takeover clears US hurdle amid growing scrutiny

  • The US Department of Justice has approved Paramount Skydance's £82.8bn ($111bn) takeover of Warner Bros Discovery.
  • The merger would unite major brands including CNN, HBO, CBS, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon.
  • State regulators, UK watchdogs and industry critics are still scrutinising the deal.

The proposed Paramount Skydance-Warner Bros Discovery merger has moved a step closer to reality after receiving approval from the US Department of Justice, clearing one of the biggest regulatory hurdles facing the £82.8bn ($111bn) deal.

The Paramount-Warner Bros merger, one of the largest media industry deals in recent years, would reshape the entertainment landscape by bringing together some of the world's best-known television networks, film studios and streaming businesses under a single corporate umbrella. However, despite the federal approval, the transaction remains under scrutiny in multiple jurisdictions and could still face legal challenges before it is completed.
