‘Ghost’ Review: Shiva Rajkumar delivers an engrossing heist action thriller film

Popular actor Shiva Rajkumar is back in cinemas with his latest film Ghost. Directed by MG Srinivas, the film also features Jayaram, Anupam Kher, Prashant Narayanan, Satya Prakash, and Archana Jois on the cast. Originally made in Kannada, Ghost has hit theatres across India in various popular languages, including Hindi.

Ghost begins when an extremely sharp gangster (Rajkumar), who remains unnamed for most of the time, hijacks a particular cell in a prison that was set to be privatised. Along with the inmates, a high-profile politician has also been held hostage in the prison. The police department entrusts the responsibility of catching the gangster and his team with honest but ruthless senior police officer Charan Raj (Jayaram). To know who is the gangster, what are his motives behind hijacking a jail, and what Raj does to thwart his plans, watch the film.

Ghost is astounding in many places. The film, bursting with testosterone from the first frame to the last, has been shot beautifully. The action in the film is top-notch and so is the screenplay, which is nonlinear.

The major highlight of the film is, of course, a terrific performance by Dr. Shiva Rajkumar. Everything he does on the screen, be it fighting with his opponents, shooting big guns, or putting vehicles on fire, he does with his charismatic swag and makes everything look convincing. The 61-year-old actor shines in his role from start to finish.

Having said that, his diehard fans might complain about his screen time, which is comparatively less as the film also focuses on Jayaram’s character.

Anupam Kher and Prashant Narayanan do justice to their supporting roles. Director MG Srinivas takes the best out of his actors and offers a film that is thoroughly entertaining.

In a nutshell, Ghost boasts of every ingredient that will appeal to Shiva Rajkumar’s fans.

The film is playing in cinemas across India.
