The first look of Sanjay Dutt in The Good Maharaja out!

The tinsel town was buzzing with the news that soon after the release of Bhoomi, Sanjay Dutt and Omung Kumar will join forces again for a movie called Malang but before that, Kumar made an announcement stating that he is planning one more film with Sanjay, based on Maharaja Jam Sahib Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji.

Now, the makers of the big-budgeted film titled The Good Maharaja have unveiled the first look of the poster wherein Sanjay is seen donning the getup of the king and looks every bit regal in the role. It seems the role was written keeping him in mind.


A statement from the makers reveals, “Omung Kumar has been working on this script for a year-and-a-half and he has even put together a book on it. Sandeep Singh and the team have done a look test as well with Sanjay Dutt. They, in fact, met Polish government officials last year to work out shooting permissions.”

Talking about the look Omung said, “We have photographs of the Maharaja for reference. We will take certain creative liberties but are trying to keep things as authentic as possible. Sanjay looks regal and it was his idea to do this role and I wanted to direct it because it’s a superb story.”

For the uninitiated, Maharaja Jam Sahib Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji ruled Nawanagar in British India. The big-hearted ruler saved the lives of almost 640 Polish children by providing them shelter during World War II.

Though the historical film has yet not gone on floors, it landed quoted a controversy. Reportedly, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, who is known for his penchant for making historical films, too is keen on making a movie on the similar subject. Now it will be interesting to see whether Gowariker goes ahead with the project or drops it.

Diagnosis kept private during treatment

TV doctor Punam Krishan has revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer five months ago and has now completed her treatment.

The Glasgow-born GP, 42, shared the news in an Instagram post alongside a photo of herself in a hospital bed, saying she is now healing but remains emotionally shaken by the experience.
