Dharma Productions on rumours of Fox Star Studios coping out of Takht

Speculations have been running rampant in the tinsel town of Bollywood that Fox Star Studios has backed out of Dharma Productions’ much-awaited film Takht, which Karan Johar is gearing up to helm. Several media outlets have reported that it is a big blow to Johar who has previously collaborated with Fox Star Studios on a couple of successful projects.

If reports are to be believed, Fox has taken the decision after their much-publicized women-centric films Chhapaak and Panga failed to click with the audience, incurring huge losses to the studio. After the failure of such big-ticket projects in the first month of 2020, the studio is evaluating its relationship with Dharma Productions following the resignation of Fox Star Studios’ CEO, Vijay Singh.

However, a spokesperson from Dharma Productions has a completely different story to tell. “So, Dharma had not approached Fox (Star) for Takht since they are already collaborating with them on Brahmastra which is itself a massive project. So, them backing out is not true! And the project is not being shelved either,” informs the spokesperson.

Takht is being touted as one of the most ambitious projects from the house of Dharma Productions. Starring Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor in principal roles, the period drama is expected to roll as soon as the Coronavirus pandemic comes to an end.

With Takht, KJo returns to direction after a long gap of four years. He last directed Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016), starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in central characters. The film was a big box-office success.
