Coronavirus impact: Bob Biswas shoot halted

Bob Biswas, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Chitrangda Singh in lead roles, is one of the hugely anticipated films simply because it is a spin-off of filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh’s successful mystery thriller Kahaani (2012).

The film, jointly produced by Sujoy Ghosh and Shah Rukh Khan, was being shot in Kolkata for some weeks. However, the shoot of the forthcoming crime thriller has now been suspended due to the Coronavirus scare.

Abhishek Bachchan, who plays the title role in the film, returned to Mumbai last week. Confirming the development, Chitrangda Singh told a publication that the team was completing the second schedule when the ruling to stop all shoots came out.

“We stopped work on 17th night as the union in Kolkata said all shootings should stop from March 18. It was the second schedule of the film, which was halted after the rulings came out. There is a little work left for everybody. The union also announced that all shoots and media work needed to be stopped immediately,” informed the actress.

She added that everyone present on the sets was taking proper precautions when the shoot was going on. “Everybody, including myself, was careful on the set. There were sanitizer bottles on the sets and everybody wore masks. Even the hotels [where we were put up] ensured a strict check. Everyone was on high alert.”

Bob Biswas is being helmed by Sujoy Ghosh’ daughter Diya Annapurna Ghosh. She is making her directorial debut on big screen with the movie. The film is being made under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment and Bound Script Production. The makers are yet to announce the official release date of the flick.
