Bhumi Pednekar to star in a Dharma Productions’ film

Actress Bhumi Pednekar, who was last seen in filmmaker Aanand L Rai’s comedy-drama, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017), is rumoured to be teaming up with prodigious filmmaker Karan Johar for an untitled film to be made under his production banner, Dharma Productions.

Apart from Pednekar, we hear that National award-winning actor Rajkummar Rao has also been approached for an important character in the movie. Reportedly, the two are being considered to play the second lead in Karan Johar’s next which, as per reports, stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Akshay Kumar in lead roles.


Initially, Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor’s names were doing the rounds to play the second lead pair in the film. But seems like the makers have changed their mind and now they want Bhumi and Rajkummar to come onboard.

According to sources, the duo is yet to sign the untitled movie on the dotted line, but they have made their mind to do it. An official announcement might come very soon. Touted to be the next relationship saga from the house of Dharma Productions, the film will be helmed by debutant Raj Mehta.

Meanwhile, Bhumi Pednekar is looking forward to the release of her next film, Abhishek Chaubey's dacoit drama Sonchiriya, co-starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Manoj Bajpayee, Ashutosh Rana and Ranvir Shorey.

Saif Ali Khan has spoken about stepping away from wedding performances, saying the mix of wealth, access and social circles makes him uncomfortable. The actor said in a recent interview that the shift began years ago, after a relative questioned why he was dancing at a private event.

Saif Ali Khan remembered being backstage in Mumbai when his father’s sister walked up and said she could not believe he was dancing at a wedding. The remark stung, and it stayed with him. He said that some actors see themselves as entertainers and are happy to turn up, take the fee and move on. However, he has stopped feeling that way.
