‘Amir seems hell-bent on acting like Tom Hanks but falls flat:’ Internet isn’t impressed with trailer of Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha

After facing a series of setbacks, Aamir Khan’s hugely anticipated film Laal Singh Chaddha is finally nearing its theatrical release. On Sunday, the superstar shared the trailer of the film with the audience.

The trailer shows the eventful journey of Khan’s character over the years. He plays a differently-abled Sikh child who goes on to enroll in the Indian Army after growing up, becomes a track star, falls in love, and then gets his heart broken. In a nutshell, his life is full of adventures.

While some loved the trailer of the film, others did not seem very impressed with it. Several fans have shared their disappointment on various social media platforms.

Sharing pictures of Aamir Khan with big eyes, a user wrote on Reddit, “There’s something so similar about all these roles even though they’re fundamentally different characters. I don’t know whether it’s Aamir being caricaturish or what, but it’s getting repetitive and difficult to watch.”

Another user wrote, “I am praying that Tom Hanks doesn’t get to watch Laal Singh Chaddha’s trailer. Tom would want to kill himself after seeing such a bad take on his character. There is a limit to overacting but maybe not for Aamir, the perfectionist. P.S. that cringe Punjabi accent.”

“After watching Laal Singh Chaddha trailer, I decided to donate money to the poor and watch Forrest Gump online,” read another tweet.

Laal Singh Chaddha is trashed because we're not the same gullible people we used to be in the 90s with no/delayed exposure to Hollywood movies. With the rise of English-speaking middle class, Bollywood's reputation as a copycat is getting stronger day by day,” commented another.

Instead of Laal Singh Chadda, I will watch Forest Gump again. What a brainless lot the top layer of Bollywood is!!! Engineering me topo maarke project complete karne jaisi movie banate rahte hai. Aamir seems hell-bent on acting like @tomhanks but falls flat," wrote a Twitter user.

Talking about Aamir Khan’s performance, an autistic person wrote on Reddit, “I am autistic and this is not even how an autistic person acts. He did the same in Dhoom 3, and I wasn’t happy. Couldn't he have at least consulted an autistic person if he wanted to do the role, as he is considered a perfectionist? This is caricaturish and to be honest, kind of mocking us.”

In addition to Aamir Khan, Laal Singh Chaddha also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh in important roles. The film will mark Telugu actor Nag Chaitanya’s debut in Bollywood.

Helmed by Advait Chandan and bankrolled by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Motion Pictures, Laal Singh Chaddha is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on August 11, 2022.

How Bella Ramsey became the internet's most hated star and what it says about toxic fandom culture today

Bella Ramsey isn’t new to the screen. From stealing scenes in Game of Thrones as Lyanna Mormont to leading The Last of Us as Ellie, the 21-year-old has already built an impressive career. She’s earned critical praise, award nominations, and the approval of top directors. Yet, none of that has shielded her from becoming a frequent punching bag for internet trolls.

What started as excitement over her casting in The Last of Us quickly turned into online abuse, targeting not just her performance, but her looks, identity, and the fact that she plays a lesbian character. The attacks aren’t random. Many of them come from echo chambers on Reddit, Instagram, and X, where far-right ideologies and toxic masculinity thrive. These groups often rage against anything that doesn’t fit their narrow image of “mainstream.”

How did MrBeast become a billionaire by giving it all away?

Jimmy Donaldson, better known online as MrBeast, has done what few could imagine: become a billionaire not by keeping, but by giving. At just 27, he's now the youngest self-made billionaire, having built an empire from scratch through YouTube videos that mix wild challenges with generosity.

Hailing from a small town in North Carolina, Jimmy started uploading videos to YouTube at 12. His early content was simple, like gaming clips, reaction videos, and goofy stunts. Then came a game-changer: a 44-hour-long video of him counting to 100,000. It was bizarre, oddly addictive, and wildly popular. That viral moment unlocked a formula: doing something ridiculous, filming it, and tying it all to massive giveaways.

Harshvardhan Rane stirs feud with Hocane for publicity

In the long and undistinguished annals of Bollywood mediocrity, Harshvardhan Rane holds a curious place. Neither a major star nor a complete unknown, he has hovered on the periphery of stardom for nearly a decade.

Despite having almost exclusively delivered flops, he has somehow managed to stay in the news. His latest brush with relevance comes via an unnecessary controversy, wrapped in nationalistic chest-thumping and petty social media drama.
