AMG EVENT: In conversation with Mayor Sadiq Khan

SADIQ KHAN was elected as the first Asian Mayor of a major European city with the largest personal mandate for any politician in 2016.

In the run-up to the mayoral elections next month, he has pledged his support to British Asians in London, claiming his policies “address the needs and aspirations of the community”.


The British Pakistani politician, who grew up in south London is pitted against Conservative candidate Shaun Bailey, the Green Party’s Sian Berry and Liberal Democrat Luisa Porritt.

Asian Media Group is hosting a special event with the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan on Thursday 29th April at 6pm.

Eastern Eye’s Editor-at-Large Barnie Choudhury will be ‘In Conversation with Sadiq Khan’ at this special virtual event from 6pm for one hour. There will be opportunities to ask questions to the Mayor ahead of the Mayoral election on 6th May.

Starmer tells ministers to draw clear contrast with Reform

PRIME MINISTER Keir Starmer has told ministers to draw clear dividing lines with Reform UK as Labour looks ahead to 2026, amid falling poll ratings after its 2024 election victory.

At a meeting of his political cabinet, which included deputy Labour leader Lucy Powell and took place without civil servants, Starmer said voters faced a choice between Labour “renewing the country” and Reform, which he accused of feeding on “grievance, decline and division”, the BBC reported.
