Ajay Devgn to go bald for Neeraj Pandey’s Chanakya

Period dramas seem to have caught the fancy of superstar Ajay Devgn. The actor, who was last seen in super-duper hit historical film Tanaji: The Unsung Warrior (2020), is presently working on two period movies – Maidaan and Bhuj: The Pride of India.

Right after finishing above mentioned projects, Devgn will team up with filmmaker Neeraj Panday for yet another period film, titled Chanakya. The superstar will reprise the eponymous role in the film which is based on master economist and royal advisor to the first Mauryan emperor Chandragupta.

The latest update on the much-awaited project is that Devgn will go bald to get into the skin of his character. The National Award-winning actor has never shied away from transforming himself into new avatars for his films. Hence, it should not come as a surprise if he goes bald for Chanakya.

Currently, the team associated with the project is working from home amid the Coronavirus lockdown. Neeraj Pandey recently spoke about things being halted due to pandemic and how his team is doing the best it can.

According to reports, Chanakya will be the first part of a franchise and the second instalment will mount the shooting floor straight after the first. The project will mark the first collaboration between Ajay Devgn and Neeraj Panday.

“It is an out and out period film. This will be new for me. We are going back to the Mauryan era, in the ancient India. I hope it is exciting and interesting for the audience. Work is on in full swing, we are right now prepping for it,” the filmmaker had earlier said.
