Abhishek Bachchan begins shooting for his next film

Last seen in the Anurag Kashyap-directed Manmarziyaan (2018), Abhishek Bachchan on Monday began shooting for his next film, titled The Big Bull. The actor took to Instagram to share the news with his fans. He also posted a photograph of the clapboard of the movie, whose caption read: "Here we go! A new journey, a new beginning. Need your best wishes."

The Big Bull is being directed by Kookie Gulati. Actor-filmmaker Ajay Devgn is producing the film in association with Anand Pandit. Abhishek and Ajay have previously worked together in the 2012 hit comic-caper Bol Bachchan, directed by Rohit Shetty. Besides Abhishek Bachchan, Ileana D’Cruz is also playing an important character in the movie.

Though nothing much is known about The Big Bull at the moment, a source had earlier told a tabloid that the movie is inspired from a series of true events that happened between 1990 and 2000. “It is based on real events that took place between 1990 and 2000 and changed India’s financial fabric. Ajay loved the subject and immediately agreed to back it. Ileana has a very strong role in the film but isn’t paired opposite Abhishek. The team is on the lookout for an actress to be paired with him. The film will go on the floors by the year-end," the source had informed.

Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan will also be seen in filmmaker Anurag Basu’s next directorial venture. The movie features an ensemble cast which includes the likes of Rajkummar Rao, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Pankaj Tripathi in important roles. It will be an anthology film. Junior Bachchan is also gearing up to make his digital debut with the sequel to Amazon Prime Video's popular series Breathe.

A script that stood out

Ainy Jaffri steps onto the stage with Rukhsati, drawn in by what she describes as a layered and emotionally rich script. The project, written and directed by Saqib Deshmukh, has already seen earlier runs before moving to Tara Theatre.

Jaffri said the opportunity came through her co-actor Hassan Khan, and the strength of the writing made it an immediate draw, particularly as a two-hander that places sustained focus on performance.
