Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha pushed to 2021?

If you are waiting to catch Aamir Khan’s next film Laal Singh Chaddha on Christmas 2020, here is a piece of news which may throw cold water on your plans. According to fresh reports, the release of the much-awaited film is expected to be deferred because of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Talking to a popular online publication, writer Atul Kulkarni revealed, “Laal Singh Chaddha, I think, would release next year now. We were supposed to release in December.”

Starring Aamir Khan in the titled role, Laal Singh Chaddha is an official remake of classic Hollywood film Forrest Gump (1994), which featured legendary actor Tom Hanks in the lead role.

Describing his character in the forthcoming movie, Khan had earlier told a daily, “This character is very lovable. He is so innocent. He has got this different way of looking at things. He is someone you immediately empathise with when you connect. Unless I perform it badly (laughs), then it is a different game. As a written character, it is such that you would fall in love with him straightaway.”

Apart from Aamir Khan, Laal Singh Chaddha also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead role. The actress reunites with the superstar after a huge gap of eight years. The duo was last seen together in Talaash (2012).

In an interview, Kareena had said that she auditioned for her part in the film because she wanted to work with Aamir again. “I would not have agreed to do this for anyone except Aamir. He is a genius, and he would want to do the best for his film. If he asked me to audition, it is only because he knew I was perfect for the part. But he wanted to be sure of what he was seeing in me. There is science to that decision,” she had said.

Laal Singh Chaddha is an Advait Chandan directorial.

Janhvi Kapoor has responded to what her team described as misleading reports about her recent comments on alcohol, stressing that her words were taken out of context. A statement issued by her associated initiative and shared on Instagram said sections of the media had misrepresented her remarks, calling it “deeply concerning”.

The clarification noted that Kapoor is involved in the conversation as a caregiver and ally, not as someone who has experienced addiction or alcohol dependence. It added that such portrayals risk trivialising the lived experiences of those dealing with addiction and those supporting them.
