A sequel to Akshay and Suniel starrer Awara Paagal Deewana on the cards

Buzz has it that after locking Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal for Hera Pheri 3, the third instalment of the Hera Pheri franchise, producer Firoz A. Nadiadwala has greenlit a sequel to Awara Paagal Deewana (2002).

Helmed by Vikram Bhatt, Awara Paagal Deewana starred Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal in lead roles. According to the sources, Suniel Shetty has already given his consent to star in the sequel, the makers are in talks with Akshay Kumar to come onboard. Reportedly, the film will go on floors in mid-2019.

A source close to the development reveals, “The script is written by several writers and was finalized recently. Like the original, the new one will also hinge on a lot of action. Once the entire cast is finalized, the plan is to take all of them to the Shaolin Temple in China for training. The film is expected to go on the floors next year and a major portion is being planned in the US, between Los Angeles and the Mexico border. The makers are looking at bringing back the concept of The Wild West.”

Awara Paagal Deewana was the remake of a Hollywood film. However, Awara Paagal Deewana 2 will be based on an original story. The makers are also looking for a new director to take the franchise forward.
