Vishal Bhardwaj to release a poetry book

Immensely talented filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, whose last directorial Rangoon failed to do well at the box office, is all set to release a book of his own poems. Though lyrics for all his films have been penned down by veteran lyricist Gulzar, Bhardwaj is known to have great knowledge about lyrics. However, he feels that writing poetry is totally different from writing lyrics for a Bollywood song.

"I take poetry as a different art form. I keep my poetry very pure. In fact, on December 17, my book of poems will be out. I am excited about that. I've been working on it for a long time," he says.

Very few people know that Vishal originally wanted to be a music director and entered Bollywood as a music director with the children's film Abhay in 1995. He rose to fame after composing for Gulzar's Maachis (1996) and Ram Gopal Varma's cult film Satya (1998).

Reminiscing about his initial days a music composer, Bhardwaj says, "They were not bright days because barring a few films in the late '90s, when I came, the standard of storytelling was poor. There were not many innovative storytellers, except for people like Gulzar saab and Ram Gopal Varma."

The filmmaker is currently busy with the preparations for his next production with Deepika Padukone.
