SRK denies signing Rakesh Sharma biopic yet

Speculations were rife of late that Shah Rukh Khan had signed the biopic based on the life of Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma after Aamir Khan decided to bow out of the much-awaited project. However, SRK has now said that he has not signed the film as yet.

Talking to an Indian daily, the actor spoke about his forthcoming projects, “I am currently occupied with Aanand L Rai’s film and haven’t signed anything yet. The film’s schedule got a bit delayed and, as I mentioned, it is a tedious film so it takes time. But I want to live with this raw film and so till February next year, I am committed to the same.”

Rakesh Sharma biopic is being produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur. The actor admits that he has met Kapur and other filmmakers, but has not signed anything new. “I have been meeting Siddharth and a few other filmmakers but I will take a couple of months before I take up something”.

Talking about his dwarf film with filmmaker Aanand L Rai, SRK said, “The protagonist is vertically challenged and that is quite a difficult task to pull off. But we are working on giving the audience a world-class visual experience and I can assure it is the most advanced film ever. I am saying this confidently as my company (Red Chillies) is working on it. Such films are not made very often and the entire team is giving it the best shot”.

Shah Rukh Khan’s dwarf film with Aanand L Rai is expected to hit screens in December 2018.

Yash, who plays the demon king Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, says his portrayal was shaped by one clear goal: making the character relatable beyond Indian audiences.
Speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week, where the film was presented alongside major Hollywood releases, the actor said he worked to strip away the purely mythological reading of the role.

"I have tried to internalise the whole essence of Ravana and tried to make him as human as possible at times," Yash told Reuters.

"It is important for people to relate to him, and since we have global ambitions, we need to make it familiar to a Western audience as well."
