Sonam Kapoor buys rights to adapt Anuja Chauhan’s third book?

Looks like Sonam Kapoor, who was last seen in Shashank Ghosh’s female buddy film Veere Di Wedding (2018), is in love with popular author Anuja Chauhan’s writing, so much so that she has bought rights to two of her books for silver screen adaptation.

For the uninitiated, Sonam is already shooting for The Zoya Factor, which is based on Anuja’s best-selling book of the same name and stars southern sensation Dulquer Salmaan as the male lead. The actress also has rights to make a movie on the author’s second book Battle For Bittora, which will start rolling soon.

And now, the latest news is coming in that Sonam Kapoor might gain rights to Anuja Chauhan’s third book as well. The book, which hit the stand in 2013, is titled Those Pricey Thakur Girls.

“A leading production house is on the way to try and get the rights of the book Those Pricey Thakur Girls with the intent of turning it into a film,” a source reveals.

“They have acquired the rights and are in the process of formalising the agreement after ensuring that they have the IPR for the same through public notices,” the source adds.

We wonder if the production house in question is Anil Kapoor Films & Communication Network or some other banner. Let’s wait until more details come out.

Meanwhile, Sonam Kapoor will shortly be seen in Fox Star Studios and Vinod Chopra Films’ next Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. The film also stars Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles.

Paramount's £82.8bn Warner Bros takeover clears US hurdle amid growing scrutiny

  • The US Department of Justice has approved Paramount Skydance's £82.8bn ($111bn) takeover of Warner Bros Discovery.
  • The merger would unite major brands including CNN, HBO, CBS, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon.
  • State regulators, UK watchdogs and industry critics are still scrutinising the deal.

The proposed Paramount Skydance-Warner Bros Discovery merger has moved a step closer to reality after receiving approval from the US Department of Justice, clearing one of the biggest regulatory hurdles facing the £82.8bn ($111bn) deal.

The Paramount-Warner Bros merger, one of the largest media industry deals in recent years, would reshape the entertainment landscape by bringing together some of the world's best-known television networks, film studios and streaming businesses under a single corporate umbrella. However, despite the federal approval, the transaction remains under scrutiny in multiple jurisdictions and could still face legal challenges before it is completed.
