Sonakshi Sinha: If I like a role, I will do the film irrespective of the platform

In 2019, Sonakshi Sinha starred in films like Kalank, Khandaani Shafakhana, Mission Mangal, and Dabangg 3. But apart from Mission Mangal, none of the films made a mark at the box office and impressed the audiences.

The actress will next be seen on the big screen in Bhuj: The Pride Of India which is slated to release on 14th August 2020. But due to the lockdown, the makers are not sure if the film will release as per the schedule. Sonakshi will also be making her digital debut with a web series on Amazon Prime and recently while talking to a tabloid, the actress stated that she is open to doing direct-to-digital release films.

Talking about how the current scenario will change things for the film industry, the actress said, “Many films will now be made for OTT rather than for theatre, that too, with controlled costs. I’m reading a lot of scripts and will be careful about what I pick up. The story and character is most important.”

“I’m open to direct-to-digital films. If I like a role, I will do the film irrespective of the platform,” she added.

She also stated that it will take time for films to go on the floors. Sonakshi said, “It will take some time for films to go back on the floors. Even traveling will depend on government rules and regulations. How many flights can take off? How many people can be an active part of the action? It’s all wait and watch for now.”

Young British Asians finally get a platform on BBC Asian Network to talk identity, mental health and work life

Highlights:

  • BBC Asian Network is starting a new show called Asian Network Trending.
  • The show runs for two hours every week and is made for young British Asians.
  • It covers the topics that matter most to them like what’s trending online, questions of identity, mental health etc.
  • Amber Haque and the other hosts will share the show in turns, each talking about the issues they know and care about.
  • The network is moving to Birmingham as part of bigger changes behind the scenes.

Speaking up isn’t always easy. This show gives young people a space where their voices can be heard. Music on the radio, sure. Bhangra, Bollywood hits, endless remixes. But real conversations about identity, family pressure, mental health? Rarely. Until now.

From 27 October, Asian Network Trending goes live every Wednesday night for two hours of speech instead of beats. The first hour dives into trending news; the second hour goes deeper into family expectations, workplace racism, LGBTQ+ issues, and mental health stigma. And it’s not just one voice. Amber Haque and other rotating presenters keep it fresh.
