Sindhu finishes runner-up at Indonesian Open

Star badminton player PV Sindhu had to be content with a runner-up finish at the Indonesia Open after losing the title clash in straight games to Japan's Akane Yamaguchi, in Jakarta on Sunday.

Sindhu lost the final of the BWF Tour Super 1000 tournament 15-21 16-21 to the fourth seed.


The Olympic silver medallist had come into the contest with a favourable 10-4 head-to-head record against the Japanese.

Nevertheless, it was season's best performance for the world number five Indian, who had reached the semifinals at Singapore and India Open earlier.

Taverner’s Krishna finally gets debut on London stage

GRANGE PARK OPERA’S staging of John Taverner’s Krishna at its south London venue promises to be one of the most anticipated musical events this summer.

Written by the acclaimed English composer before his death in 2013, it is the first time the opera will be performed (a small part was previously staged in Manchester) in the UK, with creatives led by the former artistic director of Welsh National Opera, Sir David Pountney and choreographer Shobana Jeyasingh.
