Sanjay Leela Bhansali in talks with Priyanka Chopra for Gangubai

For months now, B-town has been buzzing with rumours that eminent filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is in talks with global star Priyanka Chopra for a film called Gangubai, to be made under his banner Bhansali Productions.

Now, the filmmaker has himself confirmed that he is indeed in talks with the actress for a project which is very close to his heart. “I love the story. It’s been with me for long and I am keen to make the film. Priyanka and I are in talks,” said the Padmaavat (2018) helmer.

If Priyanka agrees to sign the film on the dotted line, it will mark her second collaboration with the ace filmmaker after Bajirao Mastani (2015), which also starred Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in lead roles.

A source reveals that the new project will materialize in future as, at the moment, Bhansali and Chopra both are busy with their respective projects. “This project will happen in the future. Right now Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Priyanka Chopra are just in talks. Currently, Bhansali and PC are both busy with their respective commitments, but this project is close to Bhansali’s heart and will definitely happen,” said the source.

Bhansali, who last directed the Deepika Padukone starrer epic film Padmaavat, is now gearing up to work with superstar Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt in his next directorial venture Inshallah. Priyanka, on the other hand, has just wrapped up her Bollywood comeback film The Sky Is Pink, co-starring Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim.
