Rumours of Akshay Kumar headlining Dhoom 4 emerge again

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has his hands filled with almost half a dozen projects, but rumours about him signing a new film keep hitting headlines every second week. A couple of months ago, rumour had it that the superstar was in talks to topline the fourth instalment of one of Yash Raj Films’ most successful franchises, Dhoom. His name is being linked to Dhoom 4 once again.

If fresh reports are to be believed, Akshay Kumar has been locked to play the antagonist in the next instalment of the franchise. Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan were also linked to the project, but those turned out to be mere rumours.

A source had earlier told a publication, “Akshay’s larger-than-life villain act in 2.0 (2018) convinced Adi that he would be the perfect fit for the next instalment of Dhoom. The duo has had some meetings, including the first round of narration. The role is of a suave underworld don and is much more nuanced than the villains of the previous editions. If all goes well, Akshay and Aditya will make an announcement by the year-end. Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra may not appear in the fourth part while beauty queen Manushi Chhillar may play the female lead.”

However, Yash Raj Films had denied the rumours.

Akshay Kumar is presently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Sooryavanshi. Also starring Katrina Kaif in the lead role, the cop drama has been directed by hit filmmaker Rohit Shetty. Kumar and Kaif are reuniting for a film after a decade. They were last seen together in Tees Maar Khan (2010).

Produced by Rohit Shetty Picturez and Dharma Productions, Sooryavanshi is slated to roll into theatres on 27th March 2020. Its theatrical trailer may come out on 27th February.
