Ranveer Singh in talks to play Indian superhero Nagraj

Ranveer Singh is capable of pulling off every character with utmost ease. Be it playing a Maratha warrior in Bajirao Mastani (2015), Sultan Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat (2018) or a street-rapper in Gully Boy (2019), Singh becomes the character that he decides to play on screen.

Currently busy with Yash Raj Films’ Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Ranveer Singh is in early negotiations to play the role of the iconic Indian superhero Nagraj in a silver screen adaptation of the cult comic book series. Filmmaker Karan Johar is also in talks to produce the film under Dharma Productions.

Confirming the development, Manoj Gupta, President of publisher Raj Comics, said, “We are in talks with Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar for a live-action silver-screen adaptation of Nagraj. While nothing is inked so far, things are looking positive.”

The character of Nagraj was created in the late 1980s by Sanjay Gupta and published by Raj Comics. It has gained a cult following over the years. “When we created Nagraj, we never imagined that it would attract such a wide fan following across India and we all are happy that finally a Nagraj movie is taking shape,” Gupta said in conclusion.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is about to begin the first schedule of his next film Jayeshbhai Jordaar. He will soon start preparing for Dharma Productions’ much-awaited film Takht, which Karan Johar is set to direct.

Also featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor in central characters, the historical drama is set to begin production towards the end of February. In April, Ranveer Singh will enter theatres with his hotly anticipated sports film ’83, directed by Kabir Khan.
