Rakesh Roshan diagnosed with throat cancer, confirms Hrithik Roshan

After Irrfan Khan, Sonali Bendre and Nafisa Ali, another high-profile Bollywood celebrity has been diagnosed with cancer. We are talking about actor-filmmaker Rakesh Roshan who has been diagnosed with early stage throat cancer.

Rakesh Roshan’s superstar son Hrithik Roshan took to Instagram to share the news with his fans and well-wishers.


Posting a picture of the two from the gym, Hrithik wrote, “Asked my dad for a picture this morning. Knew he wouldn't miss gym on surgery day. He is probably the strongest man I know. Got diagnosed with early-stage squamous cell carcinoma of the throat a few weeks ago, but he is in full spirits today as he proceeds to battle it. As a family, we are fortunate and blessed to have a leader like him.”

Rakesh Roshan, 69, has been admitted for surgery which is scheduled to take place today. His daughter Sunaina Roshan is also a cancer survivor.

Rakesh, who started his career as an actor with the 1970 film Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani, branched out to direction in 1987 when he directed super hit film Khudgarz, starring Shatrughan Sinha, Jeetendra, Govinda and Neelam. In 2000, he launched son Hrithik Roshan with the massively successful film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai.  Since then he has delivered many blockbuster films with Hrithik Roshan under the Krrish franchise.
