Priyanka Chopra to be retained in Dostana 2?

Dostana 2, one of the most awaited sequels of Bollywood, is in news once again. Buzz has it that after being delayed for almost a decade, the project has been revived now after Karan Johar zeroed in on a brilliant script for the sequel recently.

While reports were floating around that Karan wanted a fresh star cast for Dostana 2, the latest we hear that Priyanka Chopra might be retained for the sequel, while John Abraham and Abhishek will be replaced by two young actors.

When Dostana 2 was planned a decade ago, Katrina Khan was in talks to star in the sequel. However, the movie could not take off on time and Kat moved on to other projects. Since the gorgeous actress is busy with her new projects like Thugs Of Hindostan, Zero and Bharat, she has no dates for Dostana 2 now. Reportedly, the makers have now approached Priyanka Chopra to reprise her role in the sequel.

Dostana 2 was announced 10 years ago, and Katrina was roped in at that time. Now that the film is actually being made, Katrina’s dates are no longer available, because she has committed them to Salman Khan’s Bharat. So now the project has gone back to Priyanka,” a well-placed source reveals to an Indian daily.

Priyanka is currently shooting for her next Bollywood film The Sky Is Pink with Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim. Besides, she also has some Hollywood commitments. It will be interesting to see if she says yes or no to Dostana 2.

Riz Ahmed’s 'Hamlet' trailer drops murder suspicion into a South Asian business dynasty

Highlights:

  • Hamlet trailer lands with Riz Ahmed in the lead role
  • Film sets Shakespeare inside a wealthy British South Asian family
  • Directed by Aneil Karia and in cinemas 6 February 2025
  • Cast includes Morfydd Clark, Joe Alwyn, Sheeba Chadha and Art Malik

Riz Ahmed has entered Hamlet in a way British cinema has not quite seen. The new Hamlet trailer has been released by Universal, giving the first proper look at Aneil Karia’s modern take on Shakespeare and placing the story inside a British South Asian business empire. It is due in cinemas on 6 February, and the footage shows a tense, controlled Ahmed moving through grief, suspicion and family power.

The film teams Ahmed and Karia again after The Long Goodbye, which won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short. That success informs this production. This is the first time a major UK studio release has grounded Hamlet within a South Asian household for a wide audience.
