Popular TV star Shweta Tiwari tests COVID-19 positive

The Coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc in almost every nook and corner of the world, with the worldwide death toll from the virus reaching more than 972K. With 5.65 million cases, India is currently the second most afflicted country in the world after the United States.

Be it the common man or those in the public eye, Coronavirus is treating everyone the same. Over the past few months, several high-profile celebrities from the Indian film and television industry have come in contact with the deadly virus, the latest one being Shweta Tiwari. Yes, you read that right!

Tiwari, who can be currently seen essaying the lead character on Sony Entertainment Television’s popular show Mere Dad Ki Dulhan, has confirmed that she has contracted Coronavirus.

Speculations have been rife since morning that the popular television star has tested positive for Coronavirus. A source had earlier informed a publication, "She was not feeling well some time ago after which she got herself tested for COVID-19. There are rumours that she has tested positive, but she has not issued any statement on this and neither has the production house. So, it is not very clear."

However, when a news channel contacted the actress, she confirmed the news, “Yes, I have tested positive for COVID-19. I developed a cough on September 16. Tony and Deeya said the sequence of marriage with Varun was very important and even otherwise, I felt I should not take any chances. I headed to get myself tested.”

When asked how is she managing now, she said, “Well, thankfully I have sufficient rooms. So, I have quarantined myself. Palak (daughter) is also very particular about social distancing. It is a tough time no doubt. Even on the sets, it is so difficult to shoot. It is so edgy at times. When will we come out of this pandemic?"

She added, "I am drinking lots of hot water essentially and reading a lot. I had symptoms for the first three days. I got tested on September 17. But now I am okay. I have to quarantine myself till October 1 at least. My next test will happen on September 27.”

Liam Neeson has stepped into a storm not of his own making, pulled in by a vaccine debate tied to a documentary controversy he only narrates. The actor’s name is now attached to Plague of Corruption, a film built on claims that scientists and medical agencies have already challenged. His team says the link is misleading, stressing that Liam Neeson remains firmly pro-vaccine and did not shape a single line of the film’s message.
