Palak Purswani: Top roles and reality TV

BECOMING an actress and TV personality was never a part of the plan for Palak Purswani.

The Nagpur-born beauty had initially arrived in Mumbai to become a stylist, but then got an unexpected TV break on reality TV show MTV Splitsvilla in 2014. She has since forged an impressive acting career in TV and the web space in popular drama serials, along with appearing in hit reality shows Nach Baliye and Bigg Boss OTT.

She describes the journey so far as amazing and discussed it further with Eastern Eye, along with her future hopes.

You have played a wide range of roles, but which has been the closest to your heart?

The character Anu Malkani from Roohaniyat has been my favourite character so far because she was a strong woman who was the boss of the company. I have always loved doing powerful roles because I sort of relate that to my personality. It was my last show and I got to experiment a lot with that character. It had different graphs. It was a mixture of negative and positive characters.

Which role challenged you the most?

My latest role in Fuh Se Fantasy has challenged me, as I have never done intimate scenes before in any of my past projects. I was not sure how it went, but I was so comfortable with the whole setup.

What was the experience of doing Bigg Boss OTT ?

The experience was amazing. That show has been my dream for so many years, which I manifested. I am so grateful to be a part of a platform like Bigg Boss.

Would you have done anything different on your Bigg Boss journey?

There were several bitter things spoken about me in the initial days, so I would have to give back to those people.

What is the plan going forward for you?

I am looking forward to doing web shows shortly. If something great comes up, I will surely do it.

Do you have a dream role that you want to play?

I want to get into films. That has been my dream since always. My dream role would be something out of my comfort zone.

What inspires you?

Certain people in my life inspire me a lot to be where I am today. There was a time when I lost confidence and wasn’t able to face rejection, but my mother has always been like a pillar to me. I love being on screen and that inspires me. There is nothing other than acting that I would do.

What do you enjoy watching as an audience?

I love watching rom-coms and thriller films.

What is the best advice you ever got?

The best advice that I have got is to forgive, but never forget. That has always been my mantra – no matter what, I always forgive people in my life. I don’t like to keep grudges against anyone.

Why do you love being an actress?

I love being an actress because that keeps the thrill in life. There is no other profession that I would ever be in. Being on screen, on the floor, hearing that cut and action gives me that kick. Playing different characters in different shows makes me grow as an actor and person.
