My playlist - DJ Heer

CANADIAN talent DJ Heer balances spinning the biggest hits live with hosting a radio show and writing about music. The dynamic DJ is not surprisingly surrounded by a huge music collection and found it challenging to select just 10 songs he loves, but after some thought selected some superb hits.

Chitta Kurta by Karan Aujla: This is my favourite track out in the industry currently. I don’t think any other artist in the industry comes close to Karan. All of his music is so relatable and the vocals are unreal.

Dhakka by Sidhu Moosewala Ft. Afsana Khan: This is a duet that sounds perfect. The vocals from Sidhu and Afsana flow great together. I would put Sidhu alongside Karan Aujla for being at the top of the industry.

Pyar Bolda by Jassa Dhillon: This track features excellent lyrics and an amazing bhangra beat produced by Gur Sidhu. It will have anyone up and dancing away.

Ptola by Mickey Singh Ft. Pam Sengh: This is a track that has an urban desi flavour all over it. The feature of Pam adds even more to this track and it is a reason that it is one of the biggest tracks.

Yaar Bolda by Gitaz Bindrakhia: The fact that Gitaz is the son of the late Surjit Bindrakhia definitely shows in the vocals. Tera Yaar Bolda from Surjit is one of the biggest bhangra tracks of all time, but the Gitaz version will be played for years to come and have everyone on the dance floors.

Sahiba by Intense Ft. Simiran Dhadli: This song is produced by Canadian talent Intense and as a Canadian myself, I feel I definitely have to support the local talent. Intense is one of the most popular producers in the world and has worked with all of the big artists. Simiran absolutely killed the vocals in this track and I do not think that there is any female out there who would have been better singing this track.

Maaje Diye Mombatiye by Balkar Sidhu & Jenny Johal: This track is a remix of the classic track, which featured Jaspal Jassi alongside Balkar Sidhu. Jenny adds a new touch to the track, which does not discount the original like most remakes usually do. Very strong vocals on a timeless track that will be popular for a very long time.

Don’t Worry by Karan Aujla: The combination of Karan Aujla and Deep Jandu is a force to be reckoned with. They are my favourite artist/producer combination in the industry. Every time they are together you know the track is going to be fire.

Deadly by AP Dhillon: As we know, much of the Punjabi music industry has turned to gangster type music and this is no exception. AP Dhillon has surged on to the scene and grown a huge following in such a short time. Deadly is a very catchy track and the lyrics get stuck into your head.

Punjabi Munde by G Sidhu Ft. Fateh & J-Statik: This huge hit is one of the top tracks in the industry. I love the G Sidhu and Fateh combination. The track has hip hop feels to it with amazing lyrics. It is a great North American collaboration between G Sidhu, Fateh and J-Statik.

Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas celebrate her 37th birthday with a helicopter ride in London

Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas were spotted enjoying a helicopter ride in London as they celebrated her 37th birthday on Wednesday. The “Mission: Impossible” star, aged 62, and the “Knives Out” actress, who recently turned 37, appeared to be in high spirits as they made their way around the city, with Cruise seen in the co-pilot seat and de Armas stepping off the chopper with her two dogs.

De Armas, dressed casually in a hoodie and shorts, seemed to be in relaxed company as she marked her special day. This marks yet another public outing for the pair, who have been seen spending time together on multiple occasions over the past few months. Last month, the duo arrived in London by helicopter after a brief visit to Madrid. Paparazzi photos also captured the two boarding a chopper in Cruise's signature style. The pair was also spotted having dinner together in London’s Soho area shortly before this.

retro movie Suriya

Critics say he brings fire and finesse to a layered character

Retro reviews say Suriya powers a visually striking but overstuffed gangster romance

Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro has sparked mixed reactions, with many applauding its grand vision and Suriya’s magnetic performance, even as the film struggles to balance style and substance. It’s a throwback in form and name, but with a narrative that jumps decades, from sepia-toned memories to blood-soaked confrontations.

At its core, Retro tells the story of Paarivelkannan (Suriya), an orphan marked by fate and forged in violence. Raised in a gangster household, his life takes an unexpected turn when love enters in the form of Rukmini (Pooja Hegde). The film teases a redemptive arc, can a man born into chaos escape it, or is violence his destiny?

David Attenborough turns 99 with a powerful message on industrial fishing in new documentary ‘Ocean’

Sir David Attenborough is marking his 99th birthday with the release of Ocean, a new feature documentary in which the veteran naturalist speaks more strongly than ever before against the environmental destruction caused by industrial fishing.

The film, which opens in UK cinemas on 8 May, focuses heavily on bottom trawling, a method Attenborough describes as "draining the life from our oceans". In a particularly stark moment, he states that the scars left by these vessels on the seabed are so extensive that “the trails of destruction can be seen from space”.
