Marjaavaan: Posters of Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh starrer are interesting

Milap Zaveri’s directorial Marjaavaan starring Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh, Tara Sutaria and Rakul Preet Singh was slated to hit the screens on 2nd October 2019. The film was going to clash with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer WAR. But the makers have pushed the release date to 22nd November 2019.

This morning, the makers released a few new posters of the film. Sidharth Malhotra took to Twitter to share the posters. He tweeted, “Teri jaan ukhaadoonga jadh se. Tere teen foot ke kadh se! #Marjaavaan releasing on 22nd November 2019. @riteishd @tarasutaria__ @Rakulpreet @zmilap @ItsBhushanKumar #KrishanKumar @monishaadvani @madhubhojwani @nikkhiladvani @iamDivyaKhosla @TSeries @EmmayEntertain.”

Riteish Deshmukh plays a character who is dwarf in the film. He took to Twitter to unveil his poster. The actor tweeted, “Ek Raavan Dus Sar, Ek Vishnu DUS Ka ASAR...... #Marjaavaan releasing on 22 Nov '19 @S1dharthM @tarasutaria__ @Rakulpreet @zmilap @TSeries @Emmayentertain _@ItsBhushanKumar #KrishanKumar @monishaadvani @madhubhojwani @nikkhiladvani @iamDivyaKhosla_”

The posters are quite good and interesting. But what grabbed our attention the most are the dialogues written on the posters. ‘Kamineypan ki height teen foot’, ‘Main Maaroonga, mar jaayega, dubaara janam lene se darr jaayega’, ‘Ishq mein maaronga bhi, maronga bhi’.

This will be Sidharth and Riteish’s second film together. The two have earlier worked together in 2014 starrer Ek Villain which was a super hit at the box office. In that film also, Sidharth and Riteish were pitted against each other.

While the makers have shifted the release date to 22nd November 2019, Marjaavaan still won’t get a solo release. The film will be clashing with Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar, and Yami Gautam starrer Bala. The movie is directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan.

Ayushmann has been having a great run at the box office, while Sidharth has been unlucky with his past few films. It will be interesting to watch who will win this box office race, Sidharth or Ayushmann.

Racist hate is left unchecked online and it is infecting the offline world

Do more people now seem to believe that they have a licence to hate? That was the question posed by Farhana Haider’s powerful Radio 4 documentary this week. It gave voice to frontline NHS staff facing a resurgence of racism at work, of a type some said they had not experienced for decades.

That is about social norms – of what people believe is acceptable or not. I doubt it is that the social clock is actually turning back half a century. The profound shift in attitudes among younger generations, in particular, and the much greater share of voice of ethnic minorities ourselves should prove powerful antidotes to reject any such effort. But it only takes one or two per cent of people believing they have a licence for racism for the experience of ethnic minorities to feel as though it is regressing a generation.
