Mardaani 2 movie review: Rani Mukerji nails it in this most relevant film of the year

Mostly every day in the morning, we see or read the news a girl getting raped and killed brutally. It is disturbing to see how this world is turning out to be a horrible place for women. Gopi Puthran's Mardaani 2 starting Rani Mukerji talks about this very relevant issue of women safety in India. But this is not the only thing the movie talks about. It also gets a very important topic of the male ego on the big screen.

Shivani Shivaji Roy (Rani Mukerji) was a crime branch officer in Mardaani. After five years, now she is at the position of Superintendent of police in Kota, Rajasthan. The movie starts with a brutal rape and murder in Kota. SP Shivani Shivani Roy takes over the case and then starts the cat and mouse game.

In Mardaani, Shivani Shivaji Roy was searching for a kingpin of a child trafficking and in Mardaani 2 she is on a hunt for a rapist. The story of the film is interesting and very relevant. The movie goes into the mindset of the rapist (a horrible mindset) and makes us believe that this would clearly be one of the reasons why there are so many rapes happening in this world. There are scenes in the film that would surely make you uncomfortable, especially the ones in the first 15-20 mins of the film.

If we compare Mardaani with Mardaani 2, the sequel is very subtle. Mardaani had a massy element to it with some whistle-worthy dialogues and dramatic scenes. But Mardaani 2 is more in a dark zone and without any drama, it showcases the harsh reality. The first half of Mardaani 2 could have been better. The film picks up post interval and we are in for a treat. The last 15-20 minutes of the movie are simply outstanding. We are sure you will have goosebumps while watching it.

As the movie is subtle, even Shivani Shivaji Roy is quite calm this time. She is the same Shivani, but here she showcases a totally different side of her. Rani Mukerji has done a fantastic job and looks good in that khakee. In the last scene of the film, the actress has nailed it, proving once again that she is one of the best actresses we have in the industry.

Mardaani gave the industry an amazing actor like Tahir Raj Bhasin, and now, Mardaani 2 has given the industry Vishal Jethwa. As the villain, Vishal Jethwa is outstanding and he is clearly a contender to win Best Villain award next year. Shruti Bapna and Vikram Singh Chauhan are good in their respective roles.

Well, if we talk about one of the weakest elements in Mardaani 2, then it has to be the background score. In Mardaani, the background music was excellent, but here that’s not the case.

Overall, Mardaani 2 is a very important and relevant film. Rani Mukerji is back on the big screen to make people understand that women are not less than men.

Pub hotel group beat luxury chains in UK guest satisfaction survey

Highlights

  • Coaching Inn Group scores 81 per cent customer satisfaction, beating Marriott and Hilton.
  • Wetherspoon Hotels named best value at £70 per night.
  • Britannia Hotels ranks bottom for 12th consecutive year with 44 per cent score.
A traditional pub hotel group has outperformed luxury international chains in the UK's largest guest satisfaction survey, while one major operator continues its decade-long streak at the bottom of the rankings.
The Coaching Inn Group, comprising 36 relaxed inn-style hotels in historic buildings across beauty spots and market towns, achieved the highest customer score of 81per cent among large chains in Which?'s annual hotel survey. The group earned five stars for customer service and accuracy of descriptions, with guests praising its "lovely locations and excellent food and service.
"The survey, conducted amongst 4,631 guests, asked respondents to rate their stays across eight categories including cleanliness, customer service, breakfast quality, bed comfort and value for money. At an average £128 per night, Coaching Inn demonstrated that mid-range pricing with consistent quality appeals to British travellers.
J D Wetherspoon Hotels claimed both the Which? Recommended Provider status (WRPs) and Great Value badge for the first time, offering rooms at just £70 per night while maintaining four-star ratings across most categories. Guests described their stays as "clean, comfortable and good value.
"Among boutique chains, Hotel Indigo scored 79 per cent with its neighbourhood-inspired design, while InterContinental achieved 80per cent despite charging over £300 per night, and the chain missed WRP status for this reason.

Budget brands decline

However, Premier Inn, long considered Britain's reliable budget choice, lost its recommended status this year. Despite maintaining comfortable beds, guests reported "standards were slipping" and prices "no longer budget levels" at an average £94 per night.

The survey's biggest disappointment remains Britannia Hotels, scoring just 44 per cent and one star for bedroom and bathroom quality. This marks twelve consecutive years at the bottom, with guests at properties like Folkestone's Grand Burstin calling it a total dive.
