Madhuri Dixit makes a foray into Marathi film production!

Seasoned actress Madhuri Dixit is all set to expand her horizons. After acting in numerous blockbuster Hindi films in the 1990s, judging a number of reality shows on Indian television and collaborating with Priyanka Chopra for a series based on her life, Dixit is now all set to add another feather to her cap.

The 50-year-old actress, who was last seen on big screen in the 2014 film Gulaab Gang, is foraying into Marathi film production. The yet-to-be-titled film will be directed by Swapnaneel Jayakar. It is expected to mount floors by the end of the year and will enter cinema halls in mid-2018.

The actress is quite excited about this new inning of her professional life. “I’m excited to step into this new role and start work on my debut production. Over the years, the Marathi film industry has evolved a lot. Since it’s a family entertainer, we have an equally warm team onboard. I’m looking forward to the shoot,” the actress said in a statement.

Madhuri said that two National Award-winning Marathi films, Natarang and Jogwa have really impressed her. The actress has plans to produce not only Marathi but also Hindi films under the banner.

We wish good luck to the iconic actress for her new endeavour.

TroyBoi returns to his Indian roots with Rootz EP using Lata Mangeshkar’s voice to redefine British diaspora music

Highlights:

  • TroyBoi’s five-track EP Rootz is a personal return to the sounds of his childhood, released via Ultra Records in September 2025.
  • The single Kabhi uses an officially cleared sample of Lata Mangeshkar’s vocal from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
  • Collaborations with Amrit Maan, Jazzy B and BombayMami plug Punjabi, Bhangra and south-Asian textures directly into modern trap and bass production.
  • This EP is part of a wider wave: British artists born into diasporas are using heritage not as garnish but as foundation.

Some albums hit you in ways you don’t see coming. Rootz is one of them. Not just another trap EP. TroyBoi, the London-born producer known for global bass and trap, has made something that’s also deeply personal. He didn’t just want to make music that bangs in clubs; instead, he wanted to reach back to the India of his childhood. And he did it with Rootz.

The track everyone’s talking about is Kabhi. Because it’s not just sampling Bollywood. Lata Mangeshkar’s voice was officially cleared for use on a non-Bollywood release, a milestone reported by multiple outlets. It’s history. It’s memory. And it’s a bridge.
